Air Quality in Sacramento Region Poor Due to Numerous Wildfires — SACRAMENTO - As wildfires cover California, air quality around the Sacramento Valley is poor. "There's a smokiness in the air," said Dirk Thompson, who was playing tennis at McKinley Park on Thursday. "The air is like a lot more, it's like harder to breathe, you know," said Kavon King, who was celebrating his 15th birthday at McKinley Park on Thursday.

Four Firefighters Injured Battling Lowell Fire — NEVADA COUNTY - Four firefighters were hurt while battling the Lowell Fire in Nevada County Sunday afternoon. The 1,500 acre blaze is burning north of Colfax in the Steep Hollow drainage, west of the town of Alta. A CalFire spokesperson said preliminary reports indicate the position the four firefighters were holding was overrun and their engine burned.
