NEW YORK—Actor Michael McKean, who portrayed the lead singer in the movie "This is Spinal Tap," was injured when he was struck by a car in New York City.A McKean spokeswoman, Harriet Sternberg, says the actor suffered a broken leg.Emergency officials say McKean was struck at West 86th Street and Broadway in Manhattan just before 3 p.m. Tuesday. McKean was taken to St. Luke's hospital. Police say he was in stable condition. They had no further details.McKean also played Lenny on the hit television show "Laverne & Shirley." The protest began after noon at the corner of Park and Beacon streets. Protesters chanted, “Governor Patrick now,” saying they wouldn’t leave until Governor Deval Patrick talked to them. They also chanted, “We can’t ride, you can’t drive.” Traffic, including a Duck Boat with curious tourists, backed up on Beacon. Boston police then shut off Beacon Street just beyond Park Street and directed all traffic down Park. Police asked the protesters to move, but couldn’t persuade them. ATLANTA—Half the nation's overweight teens have unhealthy blood pressure, cholesterol or blood sugar levels that put them at risk for future heart attacks and other cardiac problems, new federal research says.And an even larger proportion of obese adolescents have such a risk, according to the alarming new numbers."What this is saying, unfortunately, is that we're losing the battle early with many kids," said Dr. Stephen Daniels, a University of Colorado School of Medicine expert who was not involved in the study.People can keep their risk of heart disease very low if they reach age 45 or 50 at normal weight and with normal blood pressure, normal cholesterol and no diabetes.
