BBC defends broadcasting images of Woolwich attackers
audioboo.fm — Images of the Woolwich attack suspects were "distressing" but broadcasting them was "appropriate" to let viewers "make their own minds up", said the Head of BBC Newsroom. Mary Hockaday accepted there had been a danger of giving the attackers a "platform", but she argued that sharing audio and stills of the men was "valuable in the early stages of telling the story" to help audiences understand what had happened.
