omaha.com — WASHINGTON - Former Nebraska Sen. Bob Kerrey took aim this week at the Senate Armed Services Committee for retreating behind closed doors to craft the National Defense Authorization Act. "Closed hearings of these kinds strengthen the hand of lobbyists and special interests," Kerrey said. "They prevent citizens from taking action on objectionable provisions."

Baseball: Can NU lean on offense to win tourney crown?

sports.omaha.com — Offense wins championships? Yeah, OK. It's not exactly the preferred formula, especially considering coach Darin Erstad's constant emphasis on starting pitching and sure-handed defense. But for this Nebraska team to win four straight games (or somehow successfully navigate through the loser's bracket) and earn the Big Ten tournament title, it's pretty clear that the Huskers are going to have to hit well.
