Aer Lingus takeover bid will be considered by Govt — Sunday 25 January 2015 13.07 The Government will give serious consideration to any takeover bid for Aer Lingus, Minister for Transport, Tourism and Sport Paschal Donohoe has said. Minister Donohoe is due to brief the Cabinet on Tuesday in relation to reports of a third offer made by International Airlines Group to buy the airline.

Government support improves in latest opinion poll — Saturday 24 January 2015 18.00 Support for the Government parties has increased according to an opinion poll for tomorrow's Sunday Business Post. The RED C poll surveyed more than 1,000 people between Monday and Wednesday of this week. This poll shows support for Fine Gael is up three points to 24%.

Brendan O'Carroll named Philanthropist of the year — Friday 23 January 2015 13.29 Comedian Brendan O'Carroll has been awarded the accolade "National Philanthropist of the Year" by the Community Foundation for Ireland. He was chosen because of his work with the Society of St Vincent de Paul, which he says supported his widowed mother of 11 some 50 years ago.

O'Hara told father she was seeing married man — Friday 23 January 2015 12.39 The father of Elaine O'Hara has told the Central Criminal Court that his daughter told him in 2008 that she was seeing a married architect from Foxrock who would tie her up. Graham Dwyer, 42 from Kerrymount Close in Foxrock, has pleaded not guilty to murdering Ms O'Hara in August 2012.

Roche Kelly damages case struck out by High Court — Friday 23 January 2015 11.38 The High Court has struck out an action for damages brought by the widower of murdered mother of two Sylvia Roche Kelly. The body of Ms Roche Kelly, from Sixmilebridge, Co Clare, was found in a Limerick hotel in December 2007.
