Associated Press SEATTLE (AP) - Using a fax machine and letterhead from the King County Council in April 2002, the office of then-Councilman Rob McKenna sent off an invitation to the U.S. secretary of the interior. McKenna, listed as the sender on both the fax cover page and underlying note, requested on behalf of the Washington State Republican Party that the Cabinet leader speak at the party's annual convention. It was a political memo that may have placed McKenna's office afoul of state or county ethics laws, which bar the use of government facilities for "personal convenience" and political campaigns. On 5/19/12, at approximately 8:00 p.m., officers were dispatched to a disturbance at a tavern on 2nd W and W. Mercer involving a customer who began striping off her clothes and placing hot pink duct tape on her upper body area. The female was ordered to leave but refused. She then grabbed the bartenders arm causing minor injury. She then attacked another female customer by clawing and scratching her face and eyes. As officers were arriving the suspect ran outside and down the street running into the KFC/ Taco Bell restroom to hide. She was escorted outside and placed into handcuffs. The boy was wading in the Wallace River Saturday afternoon when he slipped and went down a 10-foot waterfall. He scrambled to a rock just before he would have plunged over the main 70-foot waterfall. Rescuers say that by the time they arrived, the boy was wet and standing on a 1-foot-wide rock five yards from shore. The first rescuer lowered from the helicopter had his rope cut on a rock overhang, and he too fell into the river, but was saved from going over the falls by his secondary rope. (05-17) 07:31 PDT WINDSOR, Ontario, Canada (AP) -- Police in the Canadian province of Ontario say they are holding a man who allegedly swallowed a $20,000 diamond as long as it takes for him to produce the evidence. It has been nearly a week since Richard Mackenzie Matthews, 52, is alleged to have switched a diamond at Precision Jewellers and swallowed the real one. Matthews has been held at police headquarters while they wait for the 1.7-carat stone to pass through his system. Sgt. Brett Corey said Thursday that Matthews has gone to the washroom numerous times, but the diamond hasn't passed.
