Knife threat ends with gunshot wound, 35 years prison

mysanantonio.com — Jurors ordered a 35-year sentence Friday for an ex-convict who was shot in the buttocks by a woman's boyfriend last year as he held a knife to her throat. The June incident was far from John David Samarripas' first trouble with the law, prosecutors Eric Fuchs and Stacy Esterak pointed out during the aggravated assault with a deadly weapon trial.
No tears or outbursts from Samarripas during the sentencing. He apparently cried himself out yesterday.

mysanantonio.com — A San Antonio man who was incarcerated 10 years for a 1991 Super Bowl party slaying and a 1992 attempted murder is headed back to prison â this time for an incident last year in which he was shot in the derriere while holding a knife to a woman's throat.

blog.chron.com — State Sen. Dan Patrick, R-Houston, has filed a bill to move up the primary one month in even-numbered years, to the first Tuesday in February. Patrick said people in both parties should support the measure because it would give Texas a greater say in presidential elections.
