(Credit: Getty ImagesMatthew Lewis) (CBS News) Businessman and reality TV host Donald Trump is once again entering the political fray -- by hosting a upcoming fundraiser for Mitt Romney, participating in an online contest and by possibly starting a super PAC to oppose President Obama's re-election. In the first of a two-part interview with conservative website Newsmax posted on Wednesday, Trump said he is "thinking about just doing my own PAC," referring to an independent third-party organization able to raise unlimited funds for political activity. The real-estate mogul said his super PAC's television advertisements "would show how badly we're doing as a country - how disrespected we are as a country." "I would show people form OPEC - 11 people sitting around a beautiful, round, ... Continue reading →
CNN’s Brooke Baldwin Takes Tony Perkins To The Woodshed: ‘Why Do Homosexuals Bother You So Much?’ video » 1 comment Tony Perkins has been particularly loud in recent days as a voice against equal rights of marriage for same-sex couples, arguing that one minority in the society cannot define religious sacraments that, for some reason, are also governmental institutions “for the rest of us.” He took his crusade to CNN today with anchor Brooke Baldwin, who flummoxed the Family Research Council leader with simple questions like “have you ever been to the home of a same-sex couple?” and “why do homosexuals bother you so much?” RELATED: Tony Perkins Distances Himself From Rand Paul’s Obama ‘Gayer’ Joke: Not ‘A Laughing Matter’ From the start of the ... By Michael Levenson, Globe Staff Elizabeth Warren, emerging from what many consider the roughest patch yet in her Senate campaign, has pulled into a virtual tie with US Senator Scott Brown, according to a new Suffolk University/7News poll. Warren, the presumptive Democratic nominee, has the support of 47 percent of likely voters in Massachusetts, compared to 48 percent for Brown, a dead heat in a poll with a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points. That is a significant shift from the last Suffolk poll in February when Warren, a consumer advocate and Harvard Law School professor, trailed Brown, a Wrentham Republican, 49 percent to 40 percent. Just 5 percent of voters were undecided in the current poll, down from 9 percent ... Continue reading →

A new solar cell that is cheap, environmentally friendly, and durable has been developed by researchers from Northwestern University. The solar cell is the first to solve the problem of the Grätzel cell, a low-cost, environmentally friendly solar cell that has one significant disadvantage — it leaks and causes corrosion of the solar cell itself. Grätzel cells use a molecular dye to absorb sunlight and then convert it to electricity, in a similar way to chlorophyll in plants. The cells generally don’t last longer than 18 months though, and they are quite inefficient, making them commercially nonviable. People have been looking for a solution to this problem for two decades. The researchers’ solution was to use a new material for the electrolyte that starts as ... Continue reading →
In the end, it won’t be about who raises the most money. It won’t be about who ate a dog or kept one on the roof of his car.It won’t be about whether Barack Obama will protect the middle class against Mitt Romney’s predatory capitalism. And it won’t be about whether Mitt Romney will create jobs by eradicating Obama’s “European socialism.” Continue Reading It will be about who you like. (Or even whom.) Naive. Simplistic. Adolescent. Who people “want to a have a beer with” is an insult to the intelligence of the American voter. These are the common criticisms of my view. Instead of likability, demographics rule political analysis today. Are you a Latino? A single mother? A gun owner? Gay? A college graduate? ... Continue reading →
