By Jim Urquhart “It’s been a wild ride. Thank you.” And with that Renee and Kail Mantle closed a chapter of American history. On Sunday the husband and wife team held the closing ceremonies to end the last of 11 horse drives they have completed with their company, Montana Horses, after racing over 300 horses through the western outpost of Three Forks, Montana. The duo, a redheaded former theater major preparing for law school and a tanned wrangler who is a former rodeo champion, have been operating Montana Horses off a plot of land north of town since 1995 when they started with just 14 head of horses. Recently the plot of land has grown to 500 acres where they lease hundreds of horses, each ... Continue reading →

By Jason Reed President Obama’s healthcare overhaul, signed into law two years ago, is his signature domestic policy achievement. With a Zoom H4N digital audio recorder mounted to the hotshoe of a camera, I was able to capture some ambient sound ... Continue reading →
ATLANTA (AP) -- Rapidly becoming a mere footnote in the presidential race, Herman Cain sent mixed signals Friday on whether he would abandon his beleaguered White House bid on Saturday after a woman's allegation of an extramarital affair. He said he would make a "major announcement" on whether he would press on - at an event still being billed as the grand opening of a new headquarters. It is the latest - and perhaps final - twist in a campaign saga that has taken the Georgia businessman from unknown longshot to surprise frontrunner to embattled tabloid subject. He arrived at his suburban Atlanta home on Friday afternoon to talk with his wife of 42 years, Gloria, about whether to press on after his campaign was ... Continue reading →
By Jason Reed, Larry Downing and Molly Riley Hey football fans… imagine walking past the solid steel doors guarding the locker room outside one of the National Football League’s most treasured teams and standing inside watching 60 professional athletes preparing to take the spotlight in front of 70,000 expecting Baltimore fans. Talk about fantasy football coming true; that ultimate “back stage pass” was given to Reuters’ photographers Jason Reed, Larry Downing and Molly Riley from the Baltimore Ravens as an early Christmas present last December, extending them complete photographic access of their cheerleaders during the production of an in-depth multimedia project by Reuters entitled, “Ravens Rule the Skies.” (Image courtesy of Shawn Hubbard) Three unobstructed first class seats inside Cinderella’s wonderland watching “girly girls” primp ...
