To properly explain our engagement story, we have to go back to 2005. In September of that year, a Portland artist by the name of Scott Wayne Indiana began an art project. In an attempt to get people to start paying more attention to their surroundings, Indiana began tying tiny toy horses to the iron horse rings found embedded in Portland's sidewalks. Long before cars, these rings were used to harness horses curbside. Indiana called it "The Horse Project." In March of 2008, Dave posted a polaroid of one of these horses on Flickr.
