It's been more than a year since a massive quake devastated northeast Japan, and the debris believed to be from that disaster is now washing up more than 4,000 miles away in Alaska. Japanese officials estimate up to 70% of the tsunami wreckage has sunk, but the rest, ranging in size from children's toys to a squid trawler sunk by the U.S. Coast Guard off Alaska in April, has been turning up off the coasts of the United States and Canada for more than a month. There are concerns that this trash could be tainted by radiation from the Fukushima nuclear disaster that followed the March 2011 quake. The women and their three Afghan colleagues worked for Medair, a non-governmental organization, said Abdul Marouf Rasekh, a spokesman for the governor of northeastern Badakhshan province. May 22, 2012 TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The kickoff time for the 2012 Cowboys Classic football game pitting Alabama against Michigan has been set for 7 p.m. Central Time on Saturday, September 1, with ABC Sports televising the contest to a national audience. Alabama will be the home team and the Wolverines will be the away team. The game officials will be from the Big 12 Conference. The three previous meetings between Alabama and Michigan occurred in bowl games. Most recently, Michigan edged Alabama, 35-34, in overtime in the 2000 Orange Bowl.
