A quick shot of Times Square in New York reveals a billboard for the Broadway review of "Zeigfeld Follies." The problem? It's actually "Ziegfeld Follies." D'oh! This particular easter egg comes from the pilot episode of Firefly: In the opening sequence of Firefly‘s pilot episode, “Serenity,” Nathan Fillion’s Malcolm Reynolds is fighting the Battle of Serenity Valley. And losing. But before he’s forced to lay down his guns, he hops behind a giant anti-aircraft cannon to shoot down an Alliance fighter. Today he’s the first man to jump out of a helicopter and plummet 2,400 feet to the ground without a parachute… On purpose… And emerge unscathed. He reached a speed of 75 miles an hour during his 40-second fall. This is a milestone in the annals of stunts, accoording to The New York Times which has a fantastic account of Connery’s feat and Reuters the photo. After 30 years of attempts, it’s hard to believe that John Kennedy Toole‘s comic masterpiece A Confederacy of Dunces will ever get a film adaptation. But we can dream, can’t we? Vulture reports that Zach Galifianakis has been cast to play our dearest Working Boy, Ignatius J. Reilly, with Muppets director James Bobin at the helm. The A Confederacy of Dunces cinematic adaptation has endured a long and fatal history, with many of the actors who were set to play Ignatius dying before the project took off.
