If I had a dollar for every time I saw a political journalist complaining about the shoddy AmTrak WiFi, I could have upgraded it years ago.
@DHPIV @BobbyBigWheel Every show needs some early leeway to find its footing though. I think standards should be higher for later seasons.
@andy_keatts Probably true, but I do think that kind of analysis influences mainstream critical thought.
@BobbyBigWheel Other than "The Merv Griffin Show," I find Season 9 to be brutal. And I judge late Seinfeld harsher than early shows.
For the most part, I LOVE episode breakdowns/blogging by people like @sepinwall and @TheAVClub. But not all TV should be watched that way.
I think Cheers holds up. I think Seinfeld had some of the same flaws The Office did late. We just didn't write 2,000 words about every ep.
The final two years of Seinfeld were ROUGH. People slammed The Office until late, but we watch TV so differently today.
It would have been interesting to see how people viewed the final years of Seinfeld and Cheers in the era of episode-by-episode analysis.

The Office: An Appreciation

joeposnanski.blogspot.com — Nobody cares -- or should care -- what a sportswriter has to say about The Office. But the show has dominated my life for nine years and it goes off the air today. So, here are a few thoughts on why I think The Office is one of the best shows ever on television, and how the second-last show perfectly summed it all up for me.
