Former school treasurer charged with embezzlement

dispatch.com — A former charter-school treasurer was charged today in federal court with embezzling nearly half a million dollars in federal school money. Carl W. Shye Jr., of New Albany, who officials have called "a serial abuser" of public money, already owes the state more than $600,000 in taxpayer money that officials say he either misspent or allowed to be misspent by others.
