24 May 2012 Last updated at 04:38 ET Chinese police detain 'hit-and-bury' couple Police in China's Zhejiang province have detained a couple accused of burying an elderly woman alive after crashing into her, state media say. The couple, both 25, hit the 68-year-old woman as they returned from a night out drinking at a karaoke bar on 30 April, police said. They buried her at a construction site in the city of Yuyao to cover up the accident, police said. It is not clear whether they knew she was alive when they buried her. Joe Biden may not be much help to Barack Obama in key swing states this fall.In a new USA TODAY/Gallup Poll, Americans split on whether they like or dislike the vice president – 42% said they had a favorable opinion, 45% said unfavorable – but the numbers are worse in key swing states.In the 12 swing states likely to determine the outcome of the presidential election, only 40% of registered voters view Biden favorably, while 54% view him unfavorably. Given that American Idol had been tracking 30% lower than last season, this is not a surprise, but last night’s American Idol finale from 8-10:07 PM delivered a preliminary 6.1/18 among adults 18-49. It is projected to go up to a 6.3 rating in the finals, which would still be down 32% from last season’s finale to post the veteran reality series’ lowest-rated closer ever, including the first cycle, which aired in the summer. In total viewers, Idol drew 21.5 million, according to Fox projections, also an all-time low for an Idol finale. The steep year-to-year declines follow a rise for last season’s finale vs. 2010.
