If the success of a business plan depended entirely on self-assurance, the Warriors would rule the NBA. They made an awfully strong case Tuesday for a San Francisco arena, holding an outdoor news conference on the proposed site at Piers 30-32. Co-owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber spoke forcefully, betraying not a hint of doubt. Jerry West and NBA Commissioner David Stern were among the speakers. Fittingly, there wasn't a cloud in the sky, and one got the sense that absolutely nothing could go wrong with this bold, grandiose strategy. I just kept wondering about that scene across the bay.
