TRENTON — A proposal allowing judges to serve to age 75 — five years longer than the current mandatory retirement age of 70 — received a tentative nod Friday from a government panel that oversees the administration of New Jersey's pension and health benefits systems. The state Pension and Health Benefits Review Commission recommended increasing the retirement age, but cautioned that the age should not be raised for some until it's approved for all. The recommendation was made unanimously, 6-0. Changing the age at which Supreme Court justices and Superior Court judges are forced to retire requires voters to approve a constitutional amendment.
