A lieutenant in the D.C. Fire and EMS Department has been placed on administrative leave after she was charged with breaking into a Prince George's County barn and stealing bales of hay. Lt. Kellene Morgan Davis, 49, was charged last month with second degree burglary, theft and destruction of property. She faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted of the burglary, 18 months for the theft and 60 days for the destruction of property. Davis, who works on Truck 15 on Rhode Island Avenue in Brentwood, was sent home while the department investigates and the case makes its way through the courts, said Lon Walls, a spokesman for the D.C. fire department. PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad (AP) -- A reporter who led crime coverage for a Trinidad & Tobago newspaper and a TV news cameraman are being accused of robbing a liquor store and getting in a shootout with police. Authorities say Trinidad Express reporter Akile Simon and TV6 cameraman Brendon Alexander teamed up with a security guard and a taxi driver to commit the robbery in a town outside Port-of-Spain. Police allege the four initially posed as police, showing the shop owner a phony warrant. The gang is accused of engaging officers in a shootout shortly after robbing the store of $28,000 and nine bottles of whiskey. The security guard was shot in the leg before they surrendered. U.S. Marshals deputies are looking for a man accused of kidnapping in the violent home invasion burglary in Northwest Washington that netted a set of rare coins. The incident happened Dec. 17, 2011, on the 1600 block of Irving Street NW in Mount Pleasant. Police said Knycoe Minor, 28, and another man went to the apartment under the auspices of buying marijuana. Minor's accomplice struck the victim over the head with a handgun, police said, while Minor bound the man's hands and feet. Minor forced a pillowcase over the man's head, and threatened to shoot him if the man did not give them the money from a safe, police said. DUBUQUE, Iowa - An Iowa man stopped outside a Dubuque bar with a small zebra and a parrot in his truck has been charged with drunken driving. KCRG-TV reports ( http://bit.ly/KkBp1j) officers arrested 56-year-old Jerald Reiter of Cascade on Sunday in the parking lot of the Dog House bar, where people had been taking photos of the animals. Reiter says the zebra and macaw parrot are pets and like riding in the truck. Reiter claims he sometimes takes the animals into the bar, but the owner says they're not allowed inside.
