Armstrong leads his crewmates to the launchpad. He believed there was only a 50% chance of a successful moon landing. Photograph: Getty As the first person to walk on the moon, he is a man whose name will be remembered for generations to come. But perhaps one of the other well-known things about Neil Armstrong is that he hardly ever gives interviews. It was therefore something of a coup for Alex Malley, chief executive of Certified Practicing Accountants of Australia, to secure almost an hour of Armstrong's time to discuss the astronaut's trip to the moon.In the illuminating conversation posted online on the CPA Australia website, Armstrong revealed how he thought his mission, Apollo 11, only had a 50% chance of landing safely on the moon's ... Last August, Google (GOOG) Chief Executive Officer Larry Page fulfilled a pledge made to one of his senior executives, a square-jawed former attorney named Dennis Woodside. Now it was time to make good. Woodside says he was speaking with board member Ram Shriram when Page asked him to run Motorola Mobility, the company Google had just acquired for $12.5 billion. “He said, ‘I know you’ve been looking for a ... British music industry school Bristol Institute of Modern Music (BIMM) is launching a three-year music management course and offering a £16,000 ($25,593) scholarship named after the late Led Zeppelin manager Peter Grant. Grant—who also managed the likes of Chuck Berry, Little Richard, and Jimmy Page’s earlier band, the Yardbirds—cut unprecedented bargains with record companies and tour promoters that altered the industry landscape and helped win musicians a bigger share of the profits. And his occasional use of violence to get his way made him one of the most feared businessmen in rock ‘n’ roll. After drummer John Bonham’s death in 1980, Led Zeppelin disbanded and Grant effectively retired. He suffered from years of drug abuse and diabetes and died of a heart attack at age ...
