The witness told animal control officers that Baptiste removed the leg because the dog had injured it, officials said.Animal control was called to the house in the 600 block of Southwest Avenue C by the sheriff's office, which was investigating a shooting at the residence. ... The Associated Press LOUISVILLE, Ky. — It's called the Run for the Roses, but thousands of tulips are also part of the landscape at Churchill Downs during the Kentucky Derby. Not this year.Track horticulture director Matt Bizzell says the unusually warm winter means the tulips will bloom about two weeks too early for the first Saturday in May.The track usually has 6,000 to 12,000 tulips blooming during Derby week. Bizzell says they'll be replaced this year by some 25,000 annuals growing in the Churchill Downs greenhouse.As for roses, Bizzell says they should look better than ever. Green Market expanding to summer, will open Wednesday nights by Andrew Abramson Green Market on the waterfront West Palm Beach’s popular Green Market will now be open year-around after city officials agreed to operate the market in the off-season summer months. While the current Green Market is open on Saturday mornings, the summer Green Market will be open on Wednesday evenings from 5 to 8 p.m. so guests can escape the brutal noon summer heat. Although the summer market isn’t expected to be quite as large as the current market, it will still include more than 60 vendors.
