A new company - the NOLA Media Group, which will include The Times-Picayune and its affiliated web site NOLA.com - was announced today by Ricky Mathews, who will become its president. The change is intended to reshape how the New Orleans area's dominant news organization delivers its award-winning local news, sports and entertainment coverage in an increasingly digital age. NOLA Media Group will significantly increase its online news-gathering efforts 24 hours a day, seven days a week, while offering enhanced printed newspapers on a schedule of three days a week. Roger Ailes, who loves to bash the liberal media, used some extraordinarily harsh language the other day--and now realizes it. In a speech Monday night at Ohio University, his alma mater, the Fox News chairman described New York Times reporters as "a bunch of lying scum." That's a pretty sweeping indictment of a top newspaper, even by Ailes's blunt standards. A senior Fox News executive says Ailes realizes he went too far and regrets using that language. In fact, the executive says, Ailes believes the Times has been fair to Fox under its new executive editor, Jill Abramson.
