Canada’s farmers are getting old. According to the 2016 Statistics Canada census on agriculture, released earlier this month, the average age of the Canadian farmer is 55, up slightly from the last census in 2012. And, as this group ages, we’re left wondering who will take up the scythe (figuratively speaking, natch) and carry on making our food. Turns out, it’s not all doom and GMO-gloom.
