What makes a good DAB radio for you?
For me Good sound Stereo Bluetooth would be the main features Good sound? That you stuffed then, DAB radio is awful, even Dab+ is rubbish, Reliability would be my thing as well, a lot of the Dab radios seems to die in a couple of years, I had a couple of Pure ones, never again. I have a Nevada one, that I got from Maplins many years ago, still going strong. 1
Jon Richardson on Absolute Radio
A pretty decent choice. I’d kind of expected them to move away from the comedians with the departure of Frank! Yeah, it makes sense not to renew Frank Skinner's contract if they've decided a comedian who's been around for a while isn't what they want there any more, or it no longer matches the rest of the station sound. But it's a bit odd to do that then replace him with another comedian.
New addition: Casio Edifice EQW-A1200DB-1AJF "Cylon" edition
#1 · I've enjoyed my bluetooth/tough solar Edifice EQB-501XDB-1A so much this past year that I picked up this older MB6/tough solar EQW-A1200DB-1AJF. This five-year-old model was part of their JDM "Premium Collection" at the time, and while it does not have sapphire glass and only the movement is made in Japan, it does possess some high-end attributes like a smart access crown, carbon fiber second hand and exposed carbon fiber tubes to protect the spring rods.
Collection size: More is more or Less is more?
#1 · Similar topics have been done, but I'm not looking for exact collection size numbers here. I'm looking for general thoughts on the topic question. I'm torn, stupidly to the point that it gives me stress (I get that that's not good) about how many watches I want. Part of the stress comes from me not being able to make a decision on it - I'm right on the fence about it.
Pressure test? Is it really needed?
#1 · Just would like some inputs and opinions here. If I would take my watch for a battery change and plus the seal gasket change, should I also include a pressure test as well? However, what is a pressure test exactly? Do they put the watch under water? I also like to mention, that I dont take my watch in the shower, or go swimming with it. So is it really necessary to perform a pressure test? Sort by #2 · You avoid wearing a gshock in the shower, swimming, or rain.
Looking for a DAB+ radio for a family friends birthday.
Have noticed B&M sell cheap Goodman branded DAB radios but they dont say if they are DAB+. This particular topic has come up a few times. Assume that any of these cheap radios are not DAB+ unless explicitly stated, because (scandalously) many radios are still being sold which aren't. Would be looking for a DAB+ radio under £100. As dont want to spend over the for a radio they may only use a few times a week. If you buy a quality brand like Roberts (plenty in your price range) then it will have DAB+.
This town. BBC1 9pm Last day of March 2024.
Can't find a discussion about this, hope there isn't one yet. Read a few reviews but mainly watching for the soundtrack and less of the politics. Love 2 Tone music and went to heaps of gigs at Coventry Locarno and that Birmingham venue. Shame it clashes with Passenger, might be a long night. After the Specials/ Fun boy three shows last night it could be interesting. 3

DAB radio with big display?
I hope this is the right place for this. We're looking for a new 'kitchen radio' which will live atop the fridge, so it must have all controls on the front. Despite mucho searching, virtually all the radios I see have those small 16x2 or 16x3 LCD displays, which are not particularly easy to read. Does anyone know of a decent DAB radio with a bigger/better display? And can I ask if the text *has* to scroll?
How shock proof are non G shock digitals as a weekend 'beater'?
#2 · I buy G Shocks, simply because i like the style of them. I prefer how they look and like their substance over ordinary digital watches. Non G Casio digitals are very tough, easily tough enough for anything i (or most people) will throw at them. #3 · Thanks for the feedback. I think I prefer the look, price and functions of other Casio digitals but I'm hesitant to forgo the peace of mind that comes with the G Shock branding.
For Ken Bruce's final show
The BBC should just let him play his favourite songs like Terry did on his final brreakfast show. Least they can do.......
Casio MTD Illuminator range
Hey guys, This is my first post... I just joined for the sake of putting the record straight about this watch... My experience was one of simplicity when changing the batteries on my Casio MTD-1079. The way to separate the two parts as described by others, was simply to poke a tiny screwdriver through the Hole that has a clear stamped "Push" and arrow to help you. Once the Lighting unit starts shifting away from the movement (lower part), it's easy to just pop it out.
Inexpensive, non G Shock, non Protrek, Casio digitals. Show em here.
Recently got a cheap Casio digital, the AE2000W, as a beater. Its pretty good for its cheap price of £19 with mineral crystal, 200WR and 10 yr batt.
G Shock G7800..... £50 + del
Joined Feb 3, 2017 · 568 Posts Discussion Starter • #1 • 2 d ago I have my positive display, black & silver G7800 for sale. VGC with only a few slight scratches on the metal bezel. Resin case & strap all good. No scratches on crystal. I dont have the tin or manual anymore, but manual can obviously be downloaded. This watch seems to gain about 15 seconds a month, but this model has a regulating screw inside if you want better accuracy. Not tried it myself for fear of making it worse.
FS. Orient Mako, 1st gen, black. £40 + del
Joined Feb 3, 2017 · 541 Posts Discussion Starter • #1 • 1 d ago Had this Mako a number of years, but i just dont wear it anymore. Good condition apart from the crystal, which has a few fine scratches and it has a slight opaqueness that only shows in bright sunlight. It could do with a new crystal. Movement is good and gains around +10 sec a day when worn. Its currently on a black & grey Bond Nato strap, which is included. Priced for a quick sale at £45 delivered. UK buyers only please.
