In honor of Muck Rack announcing Kwittken & Company (Kwitco) as PR Firm of the Week, we interviewed CEO & Managing Partner Aaron Kwittken. Since founding the global PR firm in 2005 he’s led the company to impressive growth, including winning PRWeek’s Boutique Agency of the Year in 2011. We’ve gotten to know the Kwitco team over the past year as they’ve grown within the Muck Rack community. We spoke to Kwittken about the importance of his firm using the best tools and how important social has become to PR.
Muck Rack: Why has it been important for Kwittken & Company to use the latest tech tools and platforms?
We consider ourselves a multi-specialist agency and part of that is being at the forefront of technology when it comes to supporting our clients. PR has moved beyond print media and broadcast to become more integrated than ever, playing in different marketing and customer-facing channels. From a client services perspective it is important for us to be able to understand that world and work within it.
Muck Rack: Why is social media important to you, your company and for PR?
PR and social media are essentially coming from the same place: telling stories, building relationships and spreading word-of-mouth excitement around an event, public figure or brand. We understand that, and that’s why we’ve really begun to expand our social and content marketing practice at kwittken + company to both support traditional PR efforts and also pursue experimental, new opportunities. It’s also clear that social media has changed how the media works: journalists are using social to source stories and track trends. We want to be able to build relationships with journalists in the space that works best for them.
