Claire Sullivan’s Biography

I've written stories -- mostly focusing on the environment, industry, energy, government, and politics -- published in dozens of outlets across Louisiana and New Hampshire. In 2025, the New Hampshire Press Association recognized me as Rookie of the Year, also awarding me the first-place prize in Community Service and other honors in environmental, business, and health reporting. My reporting was cited as an impetus for change in state law and referenced in the international medical journal The Lancet.

I've written stories on the impact of the petrochemical industry ranging from Louisiana's Cancer Alley to PFAS contamination affecting hundreds of households in New Hampshire. I also extensively covered the waste industry in New Hampshire, producing well-read and impactful stories on the topic.

In college, I co-created a documentary film about Cancer Alley. I previously interned for the Louisiana Illuminator, covered the Louisiana Legislature for dozens of local news outlets through the Manship School News Service, and was the lead writer on two stories in a cold-case investigative series honored by Investigative Reporters & Editors.

I also served as editor in chief at LSU's daily online news source and twice-weekly print paper, The Reveille, where I led a staff of 65.

My experience includes print and digital media, social media, film, photography, graphic design, and more. I am passionate about making complex scientific and government topics accessible to the public.
