@3Dmattias @Quora I'd need to talk to someone who really knows climate modeling. It would be a global effect for 6 hours, peaking at about 30% energy loss. My gut says that thermal inertia would smooth things out, but I'm out of my depth here.
@statto Right--you'd need a detection efficiency far above what's possible now. But compact neutrino detectors are not out of the question. They've been shown to work in certain specialized situations:

Lots of cool details in this one map! Continental rocks are enriched in uranium and thorium, so the continents "glow" in antineutrinos. If you want to take the deep technical dive: 
@cgseife @NGA_GEOINT Briefly: there's a uniform background glow from the mantle, but a strongly enhanced glow from uranium & thorium in continental crust (but not in depleted basaltic oceanic crust).
