Telling a story with facts, humor, and an informed opinion. Or at least two out of three.

Macbook, iPhone, a slow-creeping feeling of anxiety as you approach a deadline, notepad & pen.

Why did you become a journalist?

The quarry by my house wasn't hiring.

Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?

I did not.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

Digging deep with Edgar Wright about the origins of 'Baby Driver' tops the list, I think.

What advice can you offer to aspiring journalists?

Read your final draft out loud before filing. Also, become pals with your soon-to-be best pal: rejection.

When's the best time to pitch you?

Anytime, but my turnaround time is better during regular business hours.

What's the best pitch you ever got?

Drive around in Ernest Cline's DeLorean while talking about 'Ready Player One,' even though the weather prevented it from happening that way.

What's the worst pitch you ever got?

Anyone that referred to me as "Chris."

What's your favorite drink?

Topo Chico mineral water, though it is scarcely available outside of Texas.

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

Walking my dogs.

Time, Rolling Stone, Mr Porter

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

We're all paid off by Disney.
