Featured journalist: Kelly Cohen

Sep 18, 2013

Today’s featured journalist is Kelly Cohen, a watchdog reporter at the Washington Examiner. The Mizzou J school alum often goes by “Coco,” loves Twitter and Instagram, and says of her work: “I get to use my passion for journalism to educate my peers so they can in turn make wise decisions to help better their own lives.” Originally raised in South Florida, Cohen is now based in D.C. where she covers everything from government abuse, waste, and fraud at the state and federal level. Examples from her extensive portfolio includes: New Orleans in the habit of wasting FEMA funds from Hurricane Katrina, CREW sues to make Justice Department unit's opinions public, Just how safe are the nation's nuclear reactors? But it’s Her advice to fellow journos that’s truly impressive: “Hound whoever you need something from! Also, it pays to be snarky & quirky!” Certainly, we’re adding her to our media list today!

Remember: if you also want to be featured here, you should a) set up your own own journalist portfolio and 2) let us know by emailing delia at muckrack dot com.
