More thoughts from the new Pope

Further proving that he’s just about the best thing since sliced bread (our opinion), Pope Francis Bluntly Faults the Church’s Focus on Gays and Abortion. Freelancer John McQuaid wrote, “Pope Francis upends the entire abortion-contraception-gay-focused agenda of the Catholic Church in the US, elsewhere.” Morgan Little at the LA Times said, “‘We must always consider the person.’ - the new Pope continues to be a great Pope.” Jim Aley at Bloomberg Businessweek tweeted: “@pontifex is inspiring.” Mark Luckie with Twitter put it more simply: “Wow.”

Over at CNN, Eric Marrapodi pulled out this quote from Pope Francis: Church can't `interfere' with gays. He added, “#Pope says he is a sinner, calls the church a ‘field hospital.’” David Nelson from KWQC-TV wrote, “NEW. Pope Francis: the church must back off issues like homosexuality and abortion; women must have more of a voice.” Carl Lavin at CNN added “Calls church too ‘small minded.’”
