Popular Associated Press reporter Paul Cheung has earned new title: the AP has named him director of interactive and digital news production. He's certainly earned the honor; for the past few months, Cheung served in the interim director position, spearheading the wire's interactives, video explainers, print graphics, and so much more.
Also at the AP, Peter Prengaman seemed pleased at the news on multiple levels: "Congrats to boss, mentor and friend @pcheung630 on his expanded role @AP." Fellow members of the Asian American Journalists Association also took note: "Congrats to #AAJA Pres @pcheung630! Just named @AP director of interactive and digital news production," tweeted Niala Boodhoo of NPR and WBEZ. In the meantime, Cheung gave a shout-out of gratitude to his boss, VP and managing editor Lou Ferrara: "Thank you @LouFerrara & @AP for giving me this opportunity to grow!"
