First she stood, now she'll run

Sep 27, 2013

Looks like those pink tennis shoes are going to come in handy: Alex Burns with Politico has the story Texas state Sen. Wendy Davis will indeed run for governor in 2014. Or as Matt Drudge of Drudge Report decided to put it, "Abortion heroine to run for governor of TX." The state senator who stood in pink shoes for thirteen hours while filibustering abortion legislation has begun informing "influential Democrats" of her intentions, according to Burns' sources. "Surprising no one," responded Ben Philpott at KUT-FM Austin, who then added, "And using only anonymous sources." Burns clarified further on Twitter: "Davis advisers wouldn't confirm plans, but said she has made a decision."

CBS 11 News investigative reporter Mireya Villarreal surmised, "Well the 2014 #Texas Governor's race just got interesting." Meanwhile, Politico's Maggie Haberman noticed something else: "Hey, @aburnspolitico is having a hell of an afternoon in news," alluding to another recent get by Burns. Somebody's having a good day!
