No Hilary profile for you

Sep 30, 2013

For a profile that went less well, we hear that CNN Films canceled their Hillary Clinton doc, with the director cititing pressure from Clinton aides to do so, according to Dylan Byers at Politico. Mike Hager with the Vancouver Sun wrote, “Ferguson: it's ‘a victory for the #Clintons, and for the money machines that both political parties have now become.’” Freelancer John McQuaid wrote, “The GOP and Hillary Clinton agree a Hillary documentary is a bad idea. So CNN spikes it.” James Poniewozik from Time Magazine wrote, “CNN Hillary doc canceled[!] As I said then, her folks want it even less than the RNC does.” Radio Host Laura Ingraham added, “WHAT DIFFERENCE DOES IT MAKE?!”

There’s even a first-person perspective on the situation: Why I Am Cancelling My Documentary on Hillary Clinton, which you can read in the Huffington Post. Nia-Malika Henderson at the Washington Post said, “Director of CNN's Hillary Clinton film cancels project. Couldn't get people to talk. Clinton world rejoices.” Freelancer John McQuaid wrote, “Charles Ferguson wanted to make a serious documentary about Hillary Clinton, then found it was impossible.” Matea Gold also from the Washington Post elaborated: “After approaching +100 people, only two who had ever dealt with Mrs. Clinton would agree to an on-camera interview.”
