Digital Editor at the Statesman Journal

Oct 08, 2013

If you only read news once a day, stop reading.

If you don't own a smartphone or tablet, stop reading.

If you don't fully embrace a news now/digital first mindset, stop reading.

Here's the thing: the Statesman Journal has acquired all the needed eGizmos and iGadgets to arm its staff with the necessary tools, and the troops have gone through basic training. But although tools and training are great, the Journal need a superior human who understands not just the technology but how to coach others on how to use it, as well as how to continue to grow its audience.

To that end, the Statesman Journal is looking to add a visionary who will help steer its digital efforts and inspire a team of talented, experienced news producers to get to the next level and beyond. The first target is 6 million monthly page views. He or she will work with other editors on providing content across all of of the Journal's digital platforms.

If you embrace change, are passionate for digital news, and have the savvy to coax excellence out of others, please do so by contacting Michael Davis at, or hit him up on Twitter: @MDavisSJ.

If you apply through the mail instead, be warned--Michael Davis has stated publicly he will laugh at you. No, but really. He said that.
