Washington Post political feature writer Jason Horowitz will say goodbye to the Post's "Style" section for a gig with the Grey Lady. It's a big get for the New York Times, with Horowitz having gained a reputation for in-depth political profiling.
"Thrilled to be joining @nytimes as roving political features and profiles writer and grateful to WaPo for a fantastic run," Horowitz recently tweeted.
In response, Twitter was awash with praise.
"White smoke for part-time Vaticanista & all-around terrific & hilarious guy @jasondhorowitz! Joining the NYT as a political features writer!" reacted Rachel Donadio at the Times.
"Power to the bench: @jasondhorowitz joins the New York Times political team. He wrote some of best political features over past cycle," remarked NYT's LA bureau chief Adam Nagourney.
"Welcome to @jasondhorowitz who's joining the NYT to bring his vivid political coverage to a new audience," White House correspondent Peter Baker greeted him.
Only his WaPo buddies expressed dismay, of course.
Like this facetious tweet from colleague and editor Joe Heim at Washington Post Magazine: "My friend @jasondhorowitz is leaving the Post and heading to the NYT. I will now have to block him on twitter."
