A different kind of affirmative action

Speaking of school, there’s a report this morning that GW misrepresented admissions and financial aid policy for years - from the school’s own student paper, no less. Penelope Wang at CNN explained, “GW long claimed to be need-blind, but quietly wait-listed needy students.” Jamelle Bouie with the Daily Beast wrote, “George Washington University admits to explicitly implementing affirmative action for the wealthy..” Kay Steiger from Raw Story tweeted: “Mm-hm.” Taylor Brown at BBC addressed the school directly: “Dear @GWtweets: Not surprised GW is need-aware, but angry and disappointed about the lying about it.” Hadas Gold at Politico added, “Solid reporting from @GWHatchet: Admissions admit they are not need-blind, not what they've been saying for year.”
