Drones: "angels of death"

Oct 22, 2013

Although the American government has at times tried to paint the Pakistan drone campaign as a triumph, here's New York Times Pakistan bureau chief Declan Walsh with quite a different tale.

Colleague Margaret Sullivan called it "[i]mportant untold story."

"New Amnesty report & NYT investigation show terror caused by US drones & lies from USG about civilian deaths," summarized Guardian's Glenn Greenwald.

"Sales of sleeping pills, antidepressants & anxiety meds have soared in Pakistani town hit by 13 drone strikes since '08," shared Foreign Policy's Ty McCormick.

Pointing out an Economist story claiming a large number of Pakistanis are in favor of the strikes, however, freelance journo David Lepeska asked: "So which is it?"
