AJAM adds Popular Science chief

Al Jazeera America has recruited another journalist, with Jacob Ward joining very soon as science and technology correspondent. Ward has been poached from Popular Science, where he's been editor-in-chief since last year and where he's worked since 2006.

"After 15 years as a magazine editor—seven of them at @PopSci—I'm leaving publishing to learn a new set of skills," Ward shared on Twitter, adding, "AJAM is full of smart people focused on creating new and valuable American journalism. I'm proud to be on board."

"[Ward] is going to do great things at Al Jazeera America, but this is a big—and unexpected—loss for PopSci," observed Nicholas Jackson at Pacific Standard Magazine.

"So long, _jacobward_ - we hardly knew ye!" was the forlorn tweet from Pop Sci's Dave Mosher.

"Congrats to @_jacobward_ moving to increasingly exciting @ajam. I will have to start watching more TV," tweeted Pop Sci colleague Rebecca Boyle, who then asked, "But which device to use??"

That, unfortunately, we cannot answer for you, but we can tell you to start tuning in next week, when Ward starts his new on-air career!

Don’t forget - if you change jobs or move to a different news organization, be sure to email Kirsten (kirsten [at] sawhorsemedia [dot] com) so we can reflect your new title. Thanks!
