Shipping to the suburbs

Nov 11, 2013

The Marietta Daily Journal tells us that the Atlanta Braves are moving to Cobb County. Jordan Fabian with Fusion said, “Wait, are the Braves really moving out of Turner Field?” John ‏ Lemley at WABE was also taken aback: “Why...what?! #AtlantaBraves moving to the suburbs?! Just as the metro population's moving back to the inner city?!” Mark Arum at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution wrote “The #Braves plan on leaving Turner Field for a new stadium in Cobb County?!? I can't see it happening.” Josh Katzowitz at CBS Sports wrote, “This is sorta hard to believe.”

Alas, Tim Tucker at the Atlanta Journal-Constitution confirmed that the Braves plan to build a new stadium in Cobb. James Briggs at the Baltimore Business Journal wrote, “I'm sure Cobb County, Ga., taxpayers are thrilled to learn they'll be paying to replace a 17-year-old MLB stadium.” Chris Ciaccia at The Street said, “The Atlanta Braves are building a new stadium. Turner Field opened in 1997. WTH??”
