Xeni Jardin at Boing Boing, who faces breast cancer herself, tweeted: “‘If one life is saved because of early detection, it’s all worth it.’ But that's not how cancer works.” Jardin added, “ABC anchor's televised mammogram results in diagnosis. Been there. But: early detection saves lives? False.” Freelancer Ed Yong agreed: "’If one life is saved because of early detection, it’s all worth it.’ I'm sorry, but that's insidious bullshit.” Eddie Scarry at The Blaze explained: “GMA anchor underwent a televised mammogram in October. The results showed cancer and now she's getting a mastectomy.” Cassandra Vinograd at the Associated Press tweeted: “Good luck + good thoughts for @arobach.”

ABC News confirmed that Amy Robach Reveals her Breast Cancer Diagnosis. Karen Travers there said, “Pls read this powerful blog from ABC's Amy Robach (@arobach) about her breast cancer diagnosis & the road ahead.” Cheryl Casone at Fox Business tweeted: “Thinking of my fmr MSNBC colleague.” Kristen Sze at ABC7 News San Francisco added: “@arobach your friends at @abc7newsbayarea are pulling 4 u! we know u will kick #breastcancer 's butt!”

The New Yorker ran the essay Thanksgiving in Mongolia today and there are a few warnings before you click: Nicholas Thompson there said, “Devastating—but read it. Ariel Levy's #longreads about her pregnancy in Mongolia.” Ammu Kannampilly with AFP wrote, “It will destroy you, but still, read it.” Rosamund Urwin at the London Evening Standard added, “This, by Ariel Levy, on her baby dying is terribly sad but beautiful.” Esther Bintliff at the Financial Times said, “‘I was still a witch, but my powers were all gone’ - amazing, heart-rending piece of writing.” Michael Roston at the New York Times tweeted this quote from the story: “The ten or twenty minutes I was somebody’s mother were black magic.” Hadley Freeman at the Guardian admitted, “Ariel Levy is such a brilliant writer & this piece on her miscarriage has completely shattered me.”

Noam Scheiber at the New Republic tells us that Elizabeth Warren is Hillary Clinton's Nightmare. He added: “Big Obama donor: ‘Everybody wants pres cand to make heart beat faster. It's a sort of sexual experience. Warren does.” Kevin Roose at New York Magazine tweeted: “I doubt she'll run against Hillary, but @noamscheiber's right that Elizabeth Warren is blog-traffic gold.” Adam Auriemma from Daily Beast tweeted this quote from the story: "Elizabeth doesn’t care about winning.
