NYT's Matt Bai to Yahoo News

Matt Bai is leaving New York Times Magazine to join Yahoo News as national political columnist. Most recently NYT Mag's chief political correspondent, now Bai will be offering political commentary and analysis from the purple pages of the multinational Internet corporation.

"After 11 awesome years at @NYTmag, I have an extremely cool new job at @YahooNews," Bai tweeted, adding that he "[m]ight add a ! on [his] name," too.

"Ok Matt but if you don't stop with the exclamation points I'm organizing an intervention," warned Adam Nagourney with the LA Times.

"I can't stop!" Bai replied.

This, of course, catalyzed a flurry of puns on Bai's surname, mostly the work of former NSC spokesman Tommy Vietor.

"Lots of Bai-curious tweets this morning. Congratulations, Matt!" tweeted Vietor, which he later followed up with, "Will you be Bai coastal or DC based?"

"He's here all week, folks!" Bai retorted by way of reply.

Meanwhile: "Once it was unthinkable to leave @nytimes. No more," reflected Andrea Stone at Al Jazeera America.
