Tragedy in Virginia

In some very sad, and strange, news, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reports: Deeds critically wounded; son dead from gunshot. Kevin Kingsbury at Dow Jones Newswires explained, “Former Va. gubernatorial, AG candidate Deeds critically wounded in home; son dead from gunshot.” Debbi Baker from U-T San Diego said, “VA senator stabbed, son dead in attempted murder /suicide just hours after son underwent psychiatric evaluation.” Peter Baker at the New York Times called it, “Such a sad story -- Creigh Deeds, the man who might have been gov of Va, in critical condition and son Gus dead.” Luke Russert with NBC News tweeted, “Former VA Dem gov nominee Creigh Deeds news is terrible.” Jonah Goldberg at the National Review added, “Really not sure why Richmond Times Dispatch thought it important to mention that Deeds was outspent 3-1 in 2009.” Elahe Izadi with the National Journal called the whole thing, “Incredibly tragic.”
