The Grey Lady promotes two

The New York Times just boosted two within its ranks: Peter Lattman is now the media editor for the Times, after serving as a business reporter for the past three years.

"Huge congrats to @peterlattman, NYT's new media editor & a consummate mensch," tweeted NYT reporter Mike Grynbaum. "I've heard he's got a mean forehand, too."

"I will be sad not to see @peterlattman on the #DealBook masthead," admitted contributor Steven M. Davidoff, before adding, "But a good day for the @nytimes media reporting."

That promotion comes in the wake of another -- previous media editor Bruce Headlam was advanced to managing editor, running video content for the editorial side. Headlam first took the media editor role in September 2008.

Meanwhile, the news sparked a slew of requests from other media members. Edmund Lee at Bloomberg News suggested, "Hey Bruce bring back TheSweetSpot maybe?"

Seeing that, Kenneth Li with Reuters added his own recommendation: "Bring back @carr2n in a ski mask in his basement on ANY TOPIC."

One thing's for sure, Headlam will never have to worry about a shortage of ideas.
