New roles at the New York Times

The New York Times has poached one and promoted another: first up, Mike Tackett of Bloomberg News will leave his post as Washington managing editor to join the Times' Washington bureau as editor.

"Terrific move by @nytimes to hire @tackettdc for political coverage. Great journalist and a great person," remarked Ken Sands at The Chronicle of Higher Education.

Meanwhile, wife Julie Carey at NBC Washington, DC divulged on Twitter, "Very excited for & proud of my husband @tackettdc as he moves to the NYTimes."

Next, former NYT business editor Larry Ingrassia has just been given the role of deputy managing editor at the paper.

"Very happy for @nytlarry ... a fine editor and generous advocate when I interned at the @NYTimes during b-school," shared Roben Farzad at Bloomberg BusinessWeek.
