Question of the Day

Tuesday’s Question of the Day asked … How did famed Chicago broadcaster Studs Terkel -- who was born Louis -- acquire his nickname?  Terkel got his nickname while he was acting in a play with another person named Louis. To keep the two straight, the director of the production nicknamed Terkel "Studs" after the fictional character about whom Terkel was reading at the time -- Studs Lonigan!

Congrats to Aimee Levitt, self-described "mild-mannered girl reporter" and Chicago Reader staff writer, for being the first reader to tweet in correctly! Honorable mentions also belong to Debbie CarlsonJeanne Kirk, and Rachel Roh for getting it right!

Your question of the day for today is … This mystery journalist is widely regarded as the first war correspondent, largely on the basis of his dispatches from the field during the Crimean War. Who is he?
