Tweney named EIC of VentureBeat

In breaking tech news, popular publication VentureBeat announces its executive editor Dylan Tweney has been promoted in a big way -- to editor-in-chief. In this coveted new role, Tweney is charged with serving as an editorial guide for VentureBeat as it continues its expansion into new content areas.

"Congrats! Well deserved as always!" colleague and lead engineer Ryan Boswell tweeted.

In his previous role, Tweney has overseen the site's growth and expansion into a fast-moving, media property some hail as a "first-read" among technology insiders. Previously senior editor at Wired.com, he is credited with launching that site’s business coverage in 2007 and many other milestones before joining VentureBeat in 2011.

"Many more accolades to come!" predicted an acquaintance.

"Thanks! Press release to come shortly," Tweney promised his followers.
