Media matters

Dec 23, 2013

Turning our attention the media matters we always think about, Ravi Somaiya at the New York Times writes Plan for Tribune Spinoff Raises Concerns for Future of Newspaper Operations. Chris O'Brien at the LA Times called it an “Important read: How Tribune company may be setting up its newspapers to fail by turning them into piggy banks.” Douglas Perry from The Oregonian wrote, “Tribune Co.'s onerous plan for its newspapers means ‘they are in trouble from Day 1.’” Jay Hancock with Kaiser Health News added, “Tribune plan could leave LAT, Baltsun, 6 other papers with too few resources to survive.”

And at the Times, David Carr writes about that time ‘60 Minutes’ Checked Its Journalistic Skepticism at the Door. Dan Gillmor with the Guardian wrote, “Naturally, CBS' Miller tells @carr2n his 60 Minutes video press release for NSA was hard-hitting journalism.” David Sirota at PandoDaily explained, “Get this - after his uncritical NSA piece for 60 Minutes, @johnmillercbs reportedly got a govt job in law enforcement.”
