It's already 2014 somewhere

Just think, it's already next year in several places: All over the world, New Year's celebrations have begun welcoming 2014, the BBC reports. These include Auckland in New Zealand, crowds in Sydney, Australia, and Shinto priests in Japan gathering at shrines. We can already see the aftermath of such celebrations in this Yahoo News photo of fireworks in Australia, even as many of us still look forward to our own clocks striking midnight. David Montalvo with CNBC noticed, "Auckland, New Zealand, already ringing in the #NewYear. (#Applebees party there?!)"  Tim Buckley with WWAY NewsChannel 3 Wilmington reacted, "Time Square is awesome, but Australia does New Year's BIG!" Florida Today's Dave Berman noted, "It's midnight somewhere."

Plus, here's a timely round-up from Capital New YorkMedia Pro, New Year's Eve edition. "Also, today's Media Pro newsletter has a great interview with departing Timesman Clyde Haberman," reporter Jimmy Vielkind pointed out.
