A bridge too far

In light of all the Chris Christie madness from yesterday, Jim Roberts at Mashable shared “What Chris Christie woke up to today.” Nicholas Huba from the Asbury Park Press explained it’s “A great round up of #bridgegate front pages.” Sally Kohn at Fox News tweeted: “‘Ignorance is Chris.’ - ouch.” Jon Delano at CBS Pittsburgh tweeted: “You live by the mouth, you die by the mouth!” Nick Turner from Bloomberg News said, “I'd say the Post won this round.”

Of all the coverage, Erik Wemple at the Washington Post believes The Record nailed the Christie story. Zach Murdock from The Island Packet and The Beaufort Gazette said, “How the Bergen Record nailed Chris Christie's Bridgegate story: Taking a tip, digging further & a dozen FOIA request.” Sulliview explained, “In case you were wondering how those Christie staff emails came out.” Melanie Sill with KPCC said, “Hooray for outstanding journalism.”

Over at the New York Times, they write that a Woman Says Lane Closings Were Not to Blame for Her Mother’s Death. Ana Ley at the Las Vegas Sun explained, “91 y/o who died during GW Bridge delays voted for Christie...daughter says jam wasn't to blame for mom's death.” Megan McArdle from Bloomberg News tweeted: “Family of the woman who died during Fort Lee jam appears to have been dead before the ambulance reached her.” Ryan Reilly with the Huffington Post added, “91-year-old who died the day of traffic jam voted for Christie.”

Christoph Niemann from the New Yorker takes us into Chris Christie’s Control Room, via gif. He explains: “Traffic jams on the George Washington Bridge were just one example of the governor's diabolical creativity.” Farhad Manjoo at the Wall Street Journal called it “the best thing you'll see today.”

Meanwhile, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow has An alternate theory of the Christie scandal. Benjy Sarlin there said, “@maddow points out ‘traffic problems’ as retribution for a non-endorsement makes little sense. Alternate theory.” Colleague Timothy Noah said, “@maddow's alternate theory about Bridgeghazi's intended target: Cherchez la Jersey Senate majority leader. Could be!” Nathan Pensky from PandoDaily said, “Well this is interesting.” Ben Allen from WITF Central Pennsylvania added, “Oh my goodness gracious. @maddow may have figured out what was behind the whole #Christie mess (long, but worth it).”
