Around the internet in 80 seconds
The New York Times shared their Most Visited Content of 2013 today. Emily Steel from Financial Times explained, “How y'all, youse and you guys talk -- the @nytimes's most visited piece in 2013.” Ryan Faughnder at the LA Times added, “The dialect thing was HUGE.” Antonio Regalado put it into some perspective: “Reality check: Not a single tech story appears on the @nytimes list of most viewed content of 2013.”
For more attention-grabbing, turn to Jezebel who offered $10,000 for the Unretouched Images From Lena Dunham's Vogue Shoot. Alas, someone came through and you see them right here as presented by Jessica Coen. Michael Sebastian with Advertising Age wondered, “Did someone at the mag leak them for the $10K bounty @Jezebel offered?” Ian Silvera at International Business Times tweeted: “@rosietressler Seen this? Patriarchy at it again. Editing pictures this time. Who gave them Photoshop?” He also added: “I'm shocked and dismayed that picture editors, erm, edit pictures.” Camilla Long from The Times summed it up, “Trying to work up a head of violent steam that Vogue have moved Lena Dunham's neckline two inches... but I just can't.”
In more internet weirdness, Mark Wilson at Fast Company Design found out It Is Now Possible To 3-D Print Your Unborn Fetus. BuzzFeed tweeted the news with a definitive “Nope.” Karen Ho at the Toronto Star thinks, “Just because you *can* 3D print something, doesn't mean you should. Like this unborn fetus.” Lauren Peikoff at 12 News Phoenix agreed: “Just no.” Charlie Warzel at BuzzFeed added: “Oh hey! It's the worst thing ever!”
And just to make you feel extra weird, the Washington Post has this fantastic/ridiculous/sad quote from Putin: Gays will be safe at Olympics if they leave kids alone. Rick Newman at Yahoo! News added, facetiously: “But heteros can mess with kids.” Suzy Khimm with MSNBC could only muster: “Uhhh.”
Let’s pair all that unpleasantness with a cute, shall we? Here’s the FLOTUS holding up her new AARP card. She tweeted: “Excited to join Barack in the 50+ club today.” So happy birthday to her!
