AP names deputy sports editor

The Associated Press has bumped up Noreen Gillespie in a big way: Gillespie is now deputy sports editor for the news agency. Most recently the AP's deputy regional editor, she helped oversee news coverage of 14 states and was a key editor at the past two Olympics.

"Incredibly flattered by the congrats from friends and colleagues near and far, and excited for the next adventure with @AP_Sports," Gillespie tweeted.

"In case you don't know, the sports world is about to improve thanks to my friend @norgillespie entering the game," concluded Shannon Ryan at the Chicago Tribune.
